REGIONAL DIGITISATION & CATALOGUING PROJECT - VICTORIAN COLLECTIONS
13/14/15/ - July 2022
After many ‘Covid’ postponements, Geraldine Brault, Digitisation Officer (Western Victoria) for Australian Museums and Galleries Association Victoria conducted the successful workshop.
Victorian Collections is a free, web-based, collection management and publishing system.
It is a complete and industry-standard cataloguing tool for cultural organisations of all shapes and sizes. https://victoriancollections.net.au/
In practical terms we learnt a lot about photographing items and recording them online into Victorian Collections.
We now have a core of members who will be able to share their knowledge with all of us and make the task of cataloguing our collection a much easier task and one that is achievable and ongoing.
We now also need access to the internet to be able to continue the online cataloguing up at the rooms and access further catalogue training workshops via Zoom.

MDHS Historical Plaques Program
The purpose of the MDHS Historical Plaques Program is to mark the site of and inform the public of the history of significant buildings and structures in Merbein and District.
These plaques can also be used to commemorate a significant date, anniversary, or an historically, significant renovation or restoration project.
DESCRIPTION
The plaques are oval in shape (300 x 450 mm), with a dark green baked enamel surface with clear white lettering.
The plaque will display, below the relevant historic information, the MDHS logo, who will be responsible for the supplying of information, and the Merbein Centenary Logo. The latter's residual funds will pay for the plaques.
This is an ongoing program - for more information and involvement contact the Society.
Historical Plaques on Fishers Stores & Keens Pharmacy have already been attached to the relevant buildings. Two other plaques are nearing completion.
